Light burned magnesia is also called sintered magnesia. It is made from magnesite, brucite, or magnesium hydroxide produced by the reaction of seawater and lime milk. It is calcined at high temperature and has strong hydration capacity. Mainly used for making basic refractory materials, such as magnesia bricks, magnesia-aluminum bricks, and for laying steel furnace bottoms with many impurities.
