Olivine (mineral)
Olivine is the main rock forming mineral in the upper mantle and a silicate of magnesium and iron. The main components are iron or magnesium, and also contain elements such as manganese, nickel, cobalt, etc. Crystals appear in granular form and are dispersed particles or granular aggregates in rocks. Belongs to island shaped silicates. Olivine metamorphism can form serpentine or magnesite, which can be used as refractory materials.
Gemstone grade olivine is mainly divided into rich yellow green olivine, golden green olivine, yellow green olivine, rich green olivine (also known as dusk emerald or western emerald, evening primrose emerald), and sky gemstone (produced in meteorites, very rare). High quality olivine is transparent olive green or yellow green, with a clear and beautiful color that is very pleasing to the eye, symbolizing beautiful wishes such as peace, happiness, and tranquility. In ancient times, some tribes often exchanged olivine as a symbol of peace during wars. Some temples in Jerusalem still have olivine embedded thousands of years ago.
